A timely reminder of Annan's ideas and priorities; his words on war, peace, humanity, and 'man's inhumanity to man'.
After 40 years of service in the United Nations, former Secretary-General Annan shares the inside story of a world at the brink with perspectives on the September 11 attacks, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and other world conflicts.
This volume explores international mediation through the lens of Ambassador Jan Eliasson, an international go-between with a remarkable track record. The authors draw lessons for the peacemaking process from their examination of how Eliasson entered, prepared, pursued, and finally ended his mediation efforts.
Antibacterial, antioxidant and fibroblast stimulatory actions of some Ghanaian plants
The investigation focuses on six indigenous Ghanaian plants known for their antibacterial and wound healing properties. Key findings highlight the antibacterial activity of P. pinnata, H. opposita, G. arboreum, and F. asperifolia against various strains of Staphylococcus aureus. Active compounds from P. pinnata were isolated and characterized using chromatographic techniques and NMR spectroscopy. Additionally, these extracts demonstrated significant stimulatory effects on human dermal fibroblast cell proliferation and exhibited antioxidant protective effects against oxidative damage.
