Jahrhunderts sitzt Paratene dem deutschstämmigen Maler Gottfried Lindauer für ein Porträt Modell. Dabei erinnert sich der alte Maori-Häuptling an eine Reise nach England, die er zwanzig Jahre vorher, im Jahre 1863, gemeinsam mit anderen hochrangigen Maoris unternahm. Viele schöne Momente verbindet er mit diesem Ereignis. Er trifft die englische Königin, bereist das ganze Land und verkehrt in der besten Gesellschaft.
