Bob Darroch wijdt het grootste deel van zijn leven aan het tekenen van cartoons, met zijn werk op speelgoed, puzzels, souvenirs en ansichtkaarten, naast publicaties in kranten en tijdschriften wereldwijd. Sinds 1999 richt hij zich op het schrijven en illustreren van zijn eigen kinderboeken. Zijn populaire Little Kiwi-serie begon in 2001, waarmee hij zich snel vestigde als een geliefde maker van kinderliteratuur.
