Francis Thompson

The Western Islands of Scotland, stretching 130 miles from the Butt of Lewis to Barra Head, present a rich tapestry of history and landscape. These islands, including Harris, Lewis, and Uist, share a common narrative of resilience against challenging environments. Their inhabitants have fought to preserve their unique cultural and economic identities, facing adversities from historical invasions by outsiders to the Victorian land clearances that displaced many Islanders. The book explores this enduring spirit and the islands' distinctive heritage.
