Conrad Anker Boeken

On 8 June 1924, George Leigh Mallory and Andrew 'Sandy' Irvine were last seen climbing towards the summit of Everest. In 1999, Conrad Anker found the body of Mallory on Mount Everest. This title assesses the clues provided by the body, its position, and the possibility that Mallory had successfully climbed the Second Step, a 90-foot sheer cliff.

Am 8. Juni 1924 wurden George Mallory und Andrew Irvine zuletzt gesehen. Danach verschwanden sie hinter den Wolken am Nordhang des Mount Everest und kehrten nie wieder zurück. 75 Jahre später, am 1. Mai 1999, findet Conrad Anker Mallorys Leiche nur etwa 650 Meter unterhalb des Gipfels, festgefroren im Steinschutt und vom Eis mumifiziert.
