SUMMARY: Taran and Prince Rhun go to the aid of Princess Eilonwy who is sought after by Achren, the most evil enchantress in the land, because she possesses magical powers.

Taran is zowel Assistent-Varkenshoeder als krijger geweest, maar zijn hart is onrustig. Wie zijn zijn ouders? Waar komt hij vandaan? Op een speurtocht om uit te vinden wie hij werkelijk is, reist Taran door het land Prydain. Als zijn ouders zo edel zijn als hij hoopt, zal prinses Eilonwy misschien even vaak aan Taran denken als hij aan haar.
