De kinderen van Húrin is het verhaal van het tragische lot van de mensenheld Húrin en zijn kinderen Túrin en Nienor, die allen een grote rol spelen in de mythologie die Tolkien creëerde voor Midden-aarde, in de tijd dat Elfen en Mensen nog niet van elkaar vervreemd waren. Het verhaal volgt Frodo en zijn reisgenoten, waaronder Gandalf de Grijze, Sam, Merijn, Pepijn, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir en de mysterieuze Stapper.
