During the war he left Kraków for Bochnia, where a ghetto was established. From 1942 he went through labor camps in Kłaj (near Bochnia), Płaszów (near Kraków), and Ludwików (near Kielce); from July 1944 he was in camp Monowitz at Auschwitz, and in 1945 - in Nordhausen and Mauthausen, where he was liberated.
