    Peter Haining was een Britse journalist, auteur en bloemlezer, bekend om zijn uitgebreide compilaties van horror- en fantasy-verhalen. Zijn redactionele werk dook in de donkerdere hoeken van de verbeelding, verkende genre-grenzen en presenteerde een gevarieerd scala aan getalenteerde schrijvers. Naast zijn bloemlezingen schreef Haining ook non-fictieboeken over diverse onderwerpen, van beruchte misdaadlegendes tot diepgaande studies van populaire personages zoals Doctor Who en Sherlock Holmes.
