In the fall of 2014 the internationally acclaimed Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson (born 1967) showed the major solo exhibition "Riverbed" at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark. The exhibition included a monumental site-specific intervention-a huge landscape of rocks and streaming water-occupying the main part of Louisiana's exhibition space in what was his first solo show in the renowned museum, located on the outskirts of Copenhagen. The installation radically transforms the museum and the visitors' journey through this reconstructed space: it comes to life through the visitors' encounters with one another, extending from inside the museum to the world outside. This book introduces the artist and the ideas behind the exhibition to a broader audience through interviews, dialogues and an introductory essay by Louisiana curator Marie Laurberg. Other contributors include Niels Albertsen, Pireeni Sundaralingam, Timothy Morton, Lone Frank, Andreas Roepstorff, Minik Rosing and the EU commissioner for Climate, Connie Hedegaard.

    • As part of its BMW H2R research project, Studio Olafur Eliasson is preparing a dense publication comprising extensive visual material; excerpts from two seminars held in 2006/07; and conversations between Olafur Eliasson and a number of distinguished thinkers, such as architect and artist Yona Friedman, urban theorist Bart Lootsma, and Head of Design BMW Christopher Bangle. In the research project, Eliasson raises questions of formgiving and materiality, mobility, temporality, movement, and renewable energy. The aim is not so much to examine the car as object, as to integrate the vehicle in a complex set of social, historical, political, and economic relations. In 2005 a BMW H2R hydrogen-powered vehicle was delivered to Studio Olafur Eliasson and then stripped bare of its outer shell. To create a new skin several form studies have been carried out in a temporary geodesic dome, constructed in the yard of the studio. The final surface of the car consists of layers of ice, frozen around two intricate nets, mirrored plates and light. The “Climate car” can only exist in a microclimate with a temperature of minus 6 degrees Celsius or below.

    • This publication is an experimental space. Rather than a linear narrative, it follows an improvised internal logic. The Chinese scholar's garden was chosen as a spatial model for presenting the works of Olafur Eliasson in book format and for exploring the key philosophical concerns in his artistic practice. The book contains extensive material from a trip undertaken in February 2011 to the Master of Nets Garden and the Lion Grove Garden, two scholar's gardens in Suzhou, China. The journey explored the traditional Chinese scholar's garden as a model for physical movement, for duration, rhythm, and sequencing, and also as inspiration for the present book
