Hanhardt, an Associate Professor in American Studies based in New York, focuses on the historical and contemporary dynamics of U.S. social movements and urban development since the mid-20th century, emphasizing issues of stigma, punishment, and uneven growth. Together, they map a critical terrain that interrogates the impact of systemic forces on marginalized communities, revealing the complex relationships between space, identity, and power in contemporary society.
