In Germany in 1485, young Jewish woman Lea faces a year of catastrophe after losing her father and younger brother Samuel in a pogrom. To secure her father's inheritance and ensure the survival of her siblings, Lea must disguise herself as Samuel. This double life exposes her to numerous dangers, not only from Christians but also from her own community, who are eager to marry off "Samuel." Complicating matters further, she falls in love with the mysterious Roland, who entices her into a perilous mission.
