In 1922 Bombay, Perveen Mistry stands as the city’s only female lawyer amidst high child mortality and limited access to healthcare for women. At a fundraiser for a new women's hospital, she witnesses a fire accident involving the grandson of a wealthy businessman. Sunanda, the young ayah, bravely saves him but suffers severe burns.
