River Spirit

Set during the Mahdist War in nineteenth-century Sudan, this novel follows Akuany, a young woman navigating the tumultuous landscape of her war-torn homeland after losing her family. Taken in by merchant Yaseen, their bond becomes strained as he opposes the Mahdi, a revolutionary leader. As Sudan struggles for independence, Akuany faces a harrowing journey of survival, love, and identity.
