Her relationship with her mother and stepfather is complicated, especially as her mother avoids discussing her Muscogee father, who now has a new family in Oklahoma. Driven by a desire to connect with her roots, Mia secretly plans a bus trip to visit her dad, hoping to discover the missing piece of herself that intertwines her Jewish and Muscogee identities.
