The story follows Lord John Aversin, known as Dragonsbane, and his mageborn wife, Jenny Waynest, as they confront a new threat more formidable than dragons. Demonspawn from a dark dimension are preying on mages and dragons, draining their magic and souls. The couple's greatest challenge arises when these malevolent beings abduct their twelve-year-old son, Ian, forcing them to embark on a perilous quest to rescue him and combat the sinister forces threatening their world.
