The next appearance of Bertie Wooster and his loyal and highly educated servant Jeeves immerses readers in a realm of whimsical lightheartedness. Something went awry when Bertie proposed to the young and romantic Madeline Bassett on behalf of his shy friend Gussie Fink-Nottle. Madeline instantly fell in love with Bertie instead. As Bertie struggles to set things right, a serious quarrel seems to have erupted between Gussie and Madeline, and Bertie must mediate. Complicating matters, his beloved Aunt Dahlia insists he negotiate the price of a silver milk jug shaped like a cow with an antique dealer. Additionally, he is tasked with serenading another couple, Rev. Stink Pinker and Stiffy Bing, about the joys of love, which drives him to despair. It is a situation that only Jeeves can resolve, making it a matter of honor for him.
