Adversative and Concessive Conjunctions in EFL Writing

Focusing on the usage patterns of adversative and concessive conjunctions, this study compares English texts by Chinese EFL learners with those of native speakers. It employs a corpus-based approach alongside text-based analysis, framed by systemic functional linguistics and rhetorical structure theory. The book begins with an overview of conjunctions' frequency and distribution, followed by an in-depth examination of three specific conjunctions, and concludes with a case study that sheds light on the relationship between conjunctions and text structure.
