It aims at giving a living impression of Pompeii as it was two thousand years ago. It is intended to be read as the reader walks around the archaeological site of Pompeii, with an annotated map to guide the visitor. It can, however, be read separate to a visit to the site with photographs of the mentioned parts of the site. Originally published 1977
