Meer over het boek

This book gives you an extraordinary view of the Netherlands. Viewed from above, the earth's dimensions become dramatically different. Large appears small, and details merge, so that they begin to form a pattern and tell a story. The landscape unfolds and images flash by in rapid succession. Some 400 magnificent color photos -a bird's eye view - show remarkable Dutch landscapes, winding rivers, historic cities and towns, romantic castles and much, much more. Fascinating panoramas are presented in six fold-out pages. Alongside the landscape photographs and the aerial views of towns and cities are sketches that pin-point places of interest, and noteworthy or important buildings. Aerial photographs of a number of cities that were damaged during WWII are accompanied by photographs taken from the archive to provide a striking picture of how these cities have been reborn. Each chapter, covering a particular area of the country, begins with a map showing the places which have been selected for photographing from the 'picture stories', featuring topics ranging from windmills and farms to the formation of towns and villages, from modern housing developments to castles, are interspersed throughout the book. It ends with a fascinating essay on the techniques and history of aerial photography.
