A million lives on the planet Priamos hang in the balance, marked for death unless one individual can be found. This chilling decree comes from the iduve, a mysterious alien race known for their advanced technology and ruthless justice. For nearly two centuries, their massive ship, The Ashanome, has pursued a traitor who fled into human space after violating an ancient rite. As the ship orbits the planet, the iduve prepare for vaikka, their ultimate act of vengeance. To fulfill their mission, the iduve enlist three unlikely allies: Aiela Lyailleue, a peaceful kallia youth forcibly conscripted into service; Daniel, a fierce human driven by fear and hatred; and Isande, a woman with deep knowledge of the iduve. Through a process called Asuthi, their minds are melded, allowing them to share language, emotions, and secrets. United, they must navigate the dangerous surface of Priamos to locate and eliminate the offender. With time running out, the trio faces the daunting task of finding a single individual among millions. Success is crucial, as failure means annihilation for them and the entire population of Priamos, a fate the iduve are prepared to deliver without hesitation.
