This groundbreaking study explores how the creation of an ever closer European Union impacts not only policy-making but also the politics and governance of Member States. It highlights various forms of Europeanization resulting from different mechanisms of adopting new norms and rules. While many studies have examined how and to what extent "Europe matters," the Europeanization of parliamentary democracy within Member States remains under-researched. This oversight is notable, given that the EU's democratic legitimacy heavily relies on the national level's democratic processes. The volume addresses the Europeanization of parliamentary systems, contributing to the ongoing discourse on the parliamentary dimension of the EU. It integrates theoretical frameworks with cross-national empirical research, focusing on elements such as structures, procedures, and decision-making processes. Additionally, it investigates how parliamentarians respond to these changes and play an active role in shaping Europeanization.
