Die Maßlosen

Meer over het boek

In fiction, the truth sometimes finds its voice. Jack Kennedy, the American hero, and Marilyn Monroe, the love goddess, share a whispered affair that has intrigued for decades. This vivid narrative brings their passionate, tragic romance to life, set against a backdrop of deadly intrigue, power politics, and Hollywood glamour. Michael Korda, acclaimed author, masterfully portrays these iconic figures, crafting a story that transcends mere rumor. At its heart is Marilyn, not the "dumb blonde" of legend, but a vibrant woman—passionate, funny, and often unable to grasp happiness. Their love ignites at a Beverly Hills party, leading to an affair that becomes political dynamite, manipulated by a rogues' gallery of politicians and criminals. The characters are dazzling: Jack Kennedy, charming yet ruthlessly ambitious; Bobby Kennedy, sensitive beneath his tough exterior, who ultimately replaces his brother in Marilyn's life; and J. Edgar Hoover, who exploits the affair for his own ends. The narrative also includes Jimmy Hoffa, whose recordings of the lovers' most intimate moments trigger a tragic chain of events culminating in Marilyn's death and Jack's assassination. Korda reveals the hidden truths behind these legendary lives, offering insights into the complex dynamics of love and power.
