Luigi Rossi, a recent graduate landscape architect, is eager to start his own business but needs funds. To support himself, he works as a steward for an airline, where he regularly encounters Nathifa Rahman, a third-year medical student from a prominent, liberal Qatari family. Their mutual attraction is immediate and overwhelming, leading to a passionate romance that they must keep secret from Nathifa's family. Just as their relationship begins to deepen, tragedy strikes: Nathifa must return home due to her father's illness, where she discovers her fate has already been decided—she is to marry Talal Ashlan, a wealthy, progressive man, and become his second wife.
