Doen alsof

Meer over het boek

On the first day of her holiday in Rome, Ida, a Dutch girl, is abducted and raped by Leo, a brutal and coarse-grained Belgian who lives on the fringes of crime. This happens in spite of the fact -- or is it because of it? -- that her lover, Dolf, a writer who prides himself on his powers of understanding, is due to join her in a few days' time. Meanwhile Ida is drawn into association with a group of petty gangsters whom only the unintelligent Leo takes seriously. When Dolf arrives, he fails miserably in his role of knight errant -- or was it Ida that engineered his failure? She now commits herself to the shady underworld of Rome, from which she must finally find a protector.
