Griffin's novel of World War II espionage became an immediate bestseller: a superior war story whose twists and turns keep readers guessing until the last page. Now, the characters return in an adventure as thrilling as anything Griffin has crafted. In April 1943, Marine aviator Cletus Frade, Army demolition expert Anthony Pelosi, and communications specialist David Ettinger find themselves embroiled in the deadly intrigue of wartime Buenos Aires. A clandestine German vessel sets sail to resupply submarines in the South Atlantic, while a massive shipment of money for the postwar Reich heads to South America, and a coup to topple the government reaches a critical point. Amidst this chaos, the German-ordered assassination of Frade's father ignites a thirst for revenge. Delta Force Major Charley Castillo returns in the third crackling adventure in Griffin's #1 New York Times-bestselling series. The first two novels in W. E. B. Griffin's exciting new Presidential Agent series, By Order of the President and The Hostage, immediately raced up the bestseller lists–The Hostage debuting at #1. The Hunters picks up right where The Hostage left off. Two brutal murders and millions of missing dollars in the growing UN/Iraq oil-for-food scandal have lead Castillo and his team to an estancia in Uruguay, where, to his shock, the man they are seeking is himself murdered right before their eyes. Who is responsible? Most likely, the people higher up in the money chain, those willing to risk anything to keep their secrets from being revealed. They've left just enough of a trail, though, for Castillo to pick up the scent, and, with carte blanche from the president, to follow it wherever it takes him, he ends up . . . well, not exactly where he expected

The crackling new novel in the bestselling Honor Bound series, by the master of the military thriller. As with his other enormously popular series, the first two novels in W. E .B. Griffin’s saga of World War II espionage in Germany and Argentina – Honor Bound and Blood and Honor – became immediate bestsellers and were hailed as “immensely entertaining adventures” ( Kirkus Reviews ). Now, in Secret Honor , Griffin creates his most rousing novel yet. In Wolf’s Lair, a German general works toward the assassination of Adolf Hitler. In Buenos Aires, the general’s son, code-named Galahad, falls under suspicion by the SS after a Nazi operation suddenly goes bad. In the middle of it all is OSS agent Cletus Frade, who knows the identity of father and son and what they will do next…if they can survive that long. For not only are SS and Abwehr officers hot on their trails in both countries, but the OSS has branded Frade a rogue agent and is determined to shake the truth from him, at whatever cost. If Frade can’t figure a way to hold them all off, then the futures of all three men may be very short indeed…. Written with the special flair that Griffin’s readers expect, filled with high drama and real heroes, Secret Honor is further proof, in Tom Clancy’s words, that “Griffin is a storyteller in the grand tradition.”

"Griffin has the knack," writes "The Philadelphia Inquirer." "He sets his novel before you in short, fierce, stop-for-nothing scenes. Before you know it, you've gobbled it up." Now, in "Final Justice," Detective Matt Payne-newly promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Homicide-finds himself in the middle of three major assignments. The first, a fatal shooting at a fast-food restaurant, seems simple, but rapidly becomes complicated. The second begins complicated and only gets more so, as Payne becomes involved with a local guru who has fled the country, leaving behind the mummified body of his girlfriend in a trunk. And, as if that weren't enough, the self-absorbed star of a series of improbable police movies comes into town-and it is his presence that will complicate Payne's life most of all. 06 August 1943: In his brief career in the Office of Strategic Services, twenty-four-year-old Cletus Frade has already been involved in a lot of unusual situations, but nothing like the one he’s in now. Frade’s job? Typical OSS... Having helped a German lieutenant colonel named Wilhelm Frogger escape from a miserably hot and remote Mississippi prisoner-of-war camp, he must now get the defiant POW to turn against his country. Frogger’s parents are in Frade’s custody in Argentina, because of their involvement in a secret German plan to establish post-war safe havens for senior Nazi officials in South America. But they’re being uncooperative, too, and it’s up to Frade to convince the younger Frogger that it is in his best interests to help find out what the parents know. Even more important, however, is the secret within the secret. Before he was captured in Africa, Wilhelm Frogger was part of a conspiracy, its goal to assassinate Adolf Hitler. If the OSS can use his knowledge and connections to nudge that plot along even just a little bit – they may be able to end this war right now. But Frade is not the only one who knows about the Froggers. A troop of Germans and Argentinians, led by a Colonel Juan Peron, is on its way to kill the parents and, after them, the Germans are after Frade himself. His career in the OSS may have been brief – but it may just be about to be over.

Autor věnuje značné úsilí situačním popisům, pohříchu často nezáživným, a k vytvoření napínavé zápletky, která by čtenáře opravdu vtáhla do děje, mu jaksi nezbyly síly. K rozpačitému vyznění knihy přispívá i poněkud tuhý jazyk překladatelův.

Pokud už autora napadne zápletka, dokáže jí - všechna čest - využít opravdu důkladně a rozvinout do všech myslitelných rovin.

    Letzte Gerechtigkeit.
