Nasledovali ďalšie romány, otcov životopis a Rebeka, ktorá sa dočkala tridsiatich deviatich anglických vydaní, preložili ju do vyše dvadsiatich jazykov a slávny Alfred Hitchcock nakrútil podľa nej film s Laurencom Olivierom v hlavnej úlohe. Z jej neskoršej tvorby vynikajú dva romány, ktoré teraz predkladáme našim čitateľom; Francúzova zátoka vyšla r. 1941 a Hladný vrch r. 1943.
