Set in 19th-century Paris, the story follows Marguerite Gautier, a beautiful courtesan whose life takes a dramatic turn when she falls in love with Armand Duval, the son of her former employer. Despite their passionate romance, Marguerite's struggle with tuberculosis and the interference of the Marquis lead to heart-wrenching choices. As she is compelled to return to the city, their love faces insurmountable challenges, culminating in tragedy and social scorn. The narrative explores themes of love, sacrifice, and societal judgment.
