Amanda Latham is a Clinical Social Worker, who agrees to help Jim Dorion, a desperate man seeking counseling for his sister, Karen, because she's having recurring nightmares. The worst one is about a woman being severely beaten, and Karen feels she's the person in the dream. This has caused her so much anxiety that she's seen several psychologists, but the images persist. In their sessions together, Amanda gathers a lot of information on Karen's family. And because Amanda has done research on ancestral trauma and epigenetics, she suggests that they search deeper into their family tree. Jim and Karen discover from their search that their great-great-grandmother, Margarethe, was severely beaten by her husband. The details of this event are much the same as the images in Karen's nightmare. As Amanda, Jim, and Karen dig deeper into the past, they find out about an old vendetta against their family that's been covered up for decades. As their investigation becomes more intense, those early threats appear to surface in the modern world and threaten the descendants today. Is that even possible, wonders Amanda, or are they only Karen's DREAMS OF DEATH?
