Heinrich Zille's "Hurengespräche," published in 1913 under the pseudonym W. Pfeifer, is a stark milieu study of a bygone era, immediately banned by the Prussian imperial censorship. The unabridged and uncensored narratives feature eight women recounting their experiences in early 20th-century Berlin. These illustrated stories reveal the catastrophic conditions of their lives. The work includes numerous erotic drawings by Zille that accompany the tales of characters such as Alma, Olga, Pinselfrieda, Bollenguste, and Lutschliese.
