Aanbevolen leesvolgorde

After visiting Russia, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East, Tintin sets off for South America. A mysterious statue — created by the fierce South American Arumbaya tribe — has disappeared, and Tintin is not the only one looking for it. Much of the narrative plays out in San Theodoros, a banana republic constantly changing hands between corrupt dictator General Tapioca and his archrival, General Alcazar. Teeming with conspiracies and bomb plots, The Broken Ear takes Tintin on a tropical adventure, and leads him to hidden native civilizations, thieving criminals and long-lost explorers! The madcap adventure takes Tintin deep within the tropical jungle, where he narrowly avoids dangerous snakes and nearly has his head shrunk by tribal warriors. When he falls victim to a setup and is arrested as a terrorist, he is condemned to death by firing squad! However, there is a revolution on the horizon. Could it be his ticket to freedom?

Tintin soon realizes they are being watched, and after a bombing attempt on his flat, he suspects a Syldavian connection. He decides to accompany Alembick to Syldavia for research, but begins to doubt his companion's identity when he notices inconsistencies. During a layover, Tintin tests Alembick's beard, suspecting it might be fake, but ultimately drops the matter. While flying to Syldavia, Tintin is ejected from the plane and lands in a haywagon, where he suspects a plot to steal the sceptre of King Ottokar IV, essential for the King's rule during the St. Vladimir's Day parade. In Syldavia, Tintin warns King Muskar XII about the conspiracy. They find Alembick and others unconscious, with the sceptre missing. Tintin deduces that Alembick used a disguised spring cannon to launch the sceptre into the forest. He follows the thieves to the border, retrieves the sceptre, and uncovers documents revealing a plot by Borduria to take over Syldavia. Tintin steals a Bordurian aircraft to return the sceptre but is shot down by Syldavian forces. He arrives on foot just as rumors of the theft incite riots against Bordurian businesses. Snowy brings the sceptre back, and Tintin presents the incriminating documents to the King, leading to arrests and military mobil

  19. Tintin in Tibet is a highly regarded book. In fact, it’s arguably the most highly regarded book in the entire Adventures of Tintin collection, and it’s easy to see why. While I could recall the events of some of the stories I’d read as a child almost word-for-word, and while I harbour a deep affection for particular adventures in the series, I don’t think I was looking forward to revisiting any of the classic Tintin stories nearly as much as I was anticipating flicking through Tintin in Tibet. I remember the book filling me with a tremendous sense of optimism and hope as a child, a story of faith and hope against impossible odds, deeply moving because of its relative intimacy.
