Připomíná, že máme účast na Božím životě a že v hlubinách své přirozenosti jsme světlem, neboť v samém středu naší bytosti přebývá Kristus. Při meditaci jde tudíž o to, abychom ve svém nitru vyhledávali setkání s ním, nechali se naplňovat jeho láskou a tu potom šířili dál. A jestliže věčný život znamená stále hlouběji se nořit do bezedné hlubiny Boží krásy a lásky, pak předchutí onoho blaženého noření se do Boha může někdy být v jistém smyslu také meditace. Proč se o ni tedy více nesnažit?
Hlavním tématem této knihy je poslušnost vůči Boží vůli. Autor se přitom zamýšlí nad cestami k dosažení naprostého odevzdání. Stručné, avšak velmi objevné pojednání oblíbeného autora na téma „jákobovského zápasu“, který čeká každého křesťana, pokud to se svou vírou myslí vážně. „Životem bojovníka žije člověk na zemi,“ vyznává Jób. Všichni to nějak zakoušíme. V nás i mimo nás působí cosi, co vybízí k boji. Většinou míváme pocit, že boj představuje odvrácenou stranu života, a proto je třeba se mu co nejvíc vyhýbat, abychom mohli prožít čas na zemi v klidu a míru. Existuje však také dobrý zápas, který je třeba podstoupit, chceme-li dosáhnout života v plnosti. Bránu k našemu vnitřnímu ráji střeží „míhající se plamenný meč“ (srov. Gn 3,24). Jedině ten, kdo se odváží podstoupit boj sám se sebou, s vlastním odvrácením od Boha, má šanci touto branou projít. (z úvodu autora)
Porywająca książka cenionego rekolekcjonisty i znanego mistrza duchowego o działaniu Ducha Świętego, w której Stinissen OCD przypomina nam o tym, że Bóg jest tajemnicą. Porównanie Ducha do wiatru, tchnienia, uświadamia nam, że jest w Nim coś nieprzewidywalnego – wiatru nie da się uchwycić, nie można też nim sterować. Podobnie nie mamy władzy nad wodą i ogniem, tak nie mamy jej też wobec Ducha, ale „gdzie jest Duch Pański – tam wolność” (2 Kor 3,17). Kto daje się pochwycić Duchowi (wiatrowi), otrzymuje coś z Jego tajemnicy i nieprzewidywalności.
