Die Kunden der Maschinenbaubranche müssen ihre Kosten senken und Rationalisierungsmaßnahmen durchführen. Dies hat unter anderem zur Folge, daß sie gezwungen sind, auch bei kleineren Investitionen mehrere Angebote einzuholen. In den letzten Jahren ist die Anzahl der Anfragen ohne späteren Auftrag (nur fünf bis zehn Prozent der Angebote führen zu Aufträgen) sprunghaft gestiegen. Daher ist es unerläßlich, daß Angebote schnell erstellt werden. Dies bedeutet nicht nur eine Kostensenkung durch die weniger umfangreichen bzw. detaillierten Angebotskalkulationen, sondern auch einen Vorteil gegenüber den Mitbewerbern; denn das erste Angebot, welches beim Kunden eingeht, bietet einen Maßstab für alle weiteren Angebote.
