Every essay in this collection is an honoring of spiritual being - scholarship be damned. For what is scholarship but subjectivity in fancy dress? Reason is a tool, after all, and not a god, despite its fervent, blasphemous worship by the proof-eaters, who survey and amass it like so much slop in a sty. Modern scholarship is naught but acquiescence to the prevailing worldview, an outward manifestation of the crisis of modernity, an apotheosizing of reason, the bellowing of the quantity. To rail against such servility pleases our spirit and honors our ancestors. We should always use reason as the mere tool it is and subordinate it to something ever holier: the will of the Germanic man. This collection means to add to a tradition that is under attack - a tradition that culminated in the demonized (and often deliberately misrepresented) writings of Friedrich Nietzsche and Alfred Rosenberg; a tradition manifested in the steadfast heroism of Hans Rudel and Léon Degrelle; a tradition represented in the glory- and merit-based brilliance of Napoleon; a tradition as ancient as the seas surrounding primeval Hyperborea: the history of the true European culture that beckons its future destiny; for without it, we will all simply melt into a rootless mass of faceless producers and consumers - exactly what the golems of modernity would wish.
Der Glaube wirkt in aller Freiheit. Dadurch eröffnen sich neue Horizonte, und Menschen lernen sich und ihre Welt besser verstehen. Im Christentum wurde die Weitergabe des Glaubens ein wesentliches Motiv der Bildung, in der Gottes-, Menschen- und Welterkenntnis einander bedingen und vorantreiben. Speziell im Protestantismus entstanden aus diesen Impulsen immer neu Lernformen und Bildungsprozesse. So sehr sie theologisch reflektiert und kirchlich institutionalisiert sind, öffnen sie sich pädagogischer Verantwortung und gesellschaftlichem Bildungshandeln. Kristallisationspunkte evangelischer Bildung aus Glauben finden sich im vorliegenden Band. Dabei wird zunächst das Konzept von Glaubensbildung grundsätzlich entfaltet. Sodann werden, der Vielfalt des europäischen Protestantismus entsprechend, regionale Perspektiven eröffnet. Einen breiten Raum nehmen schließlich die unterschiedlichen Lernorte und auch Lernarten der Glaubensbildung ein: von der religiösen Erziehung in der Familie bis zu den Akademien, von der ästhetischen Bildung bis zum interkulturellen Lernen. Faith works in all freedom. So new horizons are opened and people learn to understand themselves and their world better. In Christianity the passing on of faith became a significant part of the process of formation in which knowledge of God, humanity and the world conditioned and drove each other on. Particularly in Protestantism there repeatedly arose from these impulses new forms of learning and processes of formation. Although these are theologically reflected and institutionalized in the church, they open themselves for educational responsibility and social work of formation. In this volume are to be found points of crystallization in protestant formation out of faith. First, the basic principles of the concept of faith formation are unfolded. Then, reflecting the diversity of European Protestantism, regional perspectives are introduced. Finally, extensive space is given to the various places and also ways of learning the formation of faith: from religious upbringing in the family to the academies, from aesthetic formation to intercultural learning.

Martin Friedrich, über zwei Jahrzehnte verantwortlich für die ökumenische Arbeit der GEKE, präsentiert anlässlich seines 65. Geburtstags und dem 50-jährigen Jubiläum der Leuenberger Konkordie eine Auswahl seiner Aufsätze und Vorträge. Die Themen umfassen die Geschichte des Protestantismus und den aktuellen ökumenischen Dialog.
Der unerledigte Fall Erwin Eckert
Der Vorsitzende des Bundes der Religiösen Sozialisten und Mannheimer Stadtpfarrer Erwin Eckert (1893-1972) wurde 1931 nach fast zwanzigjähriger Mitgliedschaft aus der SPD ausgeschlossen. Anschließend trat er unter Aufrechterhaltung seines christlichen Glaubens als erster Amtsträger der Kirche in die KPD ein. Darauf wurde er fristlos und unehrenhaft aus seinem Amt als Pfarrer entlassen. Trotz eines Versuchs der Rehabilitierung durch die Badische Landeskirche aus dem Jahre 1999 ist die Aufhebung dieses Unrechts kirchenrechtlich nach wie vor unerledigt – und steht bis heute aus. Nun legt Friedrich-Martin Balzer nach jahrzehntelanger Beschäftigung mit dem Erbe Eckerts eine Argumentation vor, die sich nicht nur mit historischen, politischen sowie (kirchen- und verfassungs-)rechtlichen Aspekten dieses Berufsverbots, sondern erstmals auch mit dem theologischen Hintergrund auseinandersetzt. Eckert war nicht nur ein Revolutionär in nicht- bzw. vor- oder antirevolutionären Zeiten, sondern auch ein Reformator der christlichen Lehre, dessen Bedeutung – anders als die von Karl Barth und Dietrich Bonhoeffer – noch immer nicht ausreichend gewürdigt wird.
