Intelligent agents represent a significant advancement in computer science over the past decade, impacting various application areas from human-computer interaction to industrial process control. The ATAL workshop series serves as a platform for researchers focused on the core aspects of agent technology, addressing theories of agency, software architectures, methodologies, programming languages, and tools for evaluating agent systems. A key strength of ATAL is its emphasis on the synergies between theories, languages, architectures, infrastructures, methodologies, and formal methods. This year's workshop attracted a substantial number of high-quality submissions, with 71 papers from 21 countries, leading to the acceptance of 22 papers for publication. The workshop highlighted emerging themes in agent research, particularly the transition of intelligent agents and multi-agent systems from research environments to software engineering practices. As agents are increasingly implemented in applications like electronic commerce and assume responsibilities traditionally held by humans, controlling their autonomy becomes essential. Additionally, the development of tools that aid in the design and implementation of agent systems is crucial for the technology's rapid adoption and widespread use.
