Meer over het boek

BNCOD has served as a global forum for researchers to discuss key issues in database research for 27 years. As research challenges have evolved, BNCOD has adapted its focus to encompass broader data management topics. Transitioning from a local conference primarily attended by British researchers, it has become an international event held in Britain, with significantly fewer presentations from UK or Irish authors this year, reflecting contributions from continental Europe, Asia, and the USA. A pressing challenge today is evolving database technology to support the diverse applications built on the Internet. This shift has influenced data access and representation, making XML data management a crucial topic at the conference. Additionally, the need to address performance issues has resurfaced, as data management now extends to low-power devices with limited memory alongside standard client and powerful server machines. We invited papers on all aspects of data management, particularly regarding data use in the modern Internet's ubiquitous environment, characterized by complex distributed and scientific applications. From 56 submissions across 14 countries, we selected 15 full papers, 3 short papers, and 7 posters for presentation, along with 2 invited papers, all included in this volume.
