The exhibition in AedesLand by Latz + Partner addresses urban wastelands, including landfills and neglected parks, emphasizing the need for intervention beyond aesthetic standards amid ongoing space shortages. The concept of 'Oases' highlights selective interventions that acknowledge the potential of polluted spaces, recognizing their inherent qualities and the layers of information they contain. Landscape transcends physical existence, serving as a continually interpreted repository of meaning. Latz + Partner's design philosophy aims to inspire new ideas in this interpretative process. The exhibition showcases two significant projects: Hiriya in Tel Aviv and Crystal Palace Park in London, both in the planning phase. Accompanying images illustrate completed projects like the blast furnace park in Duisburg and the urban transformation on the Plateau de Kirchberg in Luxembourg. Public participation and ecological principles are central to all endeavors. The transformation of Hiriya Landfill, stemming from a 2004 design competition, redefines a mountain of waste into symbols of ecological renewal, turning it into a usable park and recycling hub. The Crystal Palace Park redesign, initiated in 2006/07, seeks to restore the historic site while addressing its fragmented state through aesthetic and political reorientation, emphasizing public involvement in its regeneration. The Masterplan outlines a vision for the park's future.
