The International Conference on Rough Set and Knowledge Technology (RSKT) has been an annual event since 2006, serving as a key platform for researchers and industry practitioners to engage in discussions about knowledge processing and management in today's knowledge-driven world. This conference facilitates the presentation of cutting-edge scientific findings, fosters academic and industrial collaboration, and encourages cooperative research in rough sets and knowledge technology. The inaugural RSKT took place in Chongqing, China, followed by subsequent conferences in Toronto, Chengdu, and Gold Coast. The fifth edition, RSKT 2010, was held in Beijing from October 15–17, featuring 98 selected papers. Continuing the tradition of rigorous peer review, each submission underwent evaluation by at least two reviewers, with many assessed by three experts. Area chairs oversaw the review process to ensure quality, and the Program Committee engaged in thorough discussions to select the best contributions. Ultimately, the conference showcased 49 regular papers (28% acceptance rate) and 25 short papers (14.3% acceptance rate). We extend our gratitude to all authors for their valuable contributions, which made this conference a success.
