Meer over het boek
Since 2011, Sergei Metelev has been a Russian member of the Editorial Advisory Board of “European Union Foreign Affairs Journal,” gaining recognition for his contributions that reflect the Russian scientific community's perspectives to a global audience. This compilation of his articles is particularly valuable for non-Russian scholars, as it addresses various issues in Russia through the lens of an economic scientist. The contributions cover topics such as immigration, demographic trends, crime, security, corruption, and Russian-European economic relations. While other subjects could have been explored, the focus here remains on these key areas. In an era where dialogue is essential, especially between Russia and Europe, there is a pressing need for discussions on shared values, state responsibilities, the balance between freedoms and collective action, the essence of democracy, market functions, social safety nets, human rights, and the rule of law. This booklet aims to foster engaging dialogues across universities, research, policy-making, and various discussion forums. The publisher hopes these contributions will spark meaningful conversations, contributing to the ongoing tradition of cultural exchange and lifelong learning between the European Union and Russia.
