SANJAY

The narrative follows Sanjay, a struggling farmer in China, who becomes trapped in a cycle of debt after borrowing money for his mother's funeral and his wedding. Despite his hard work for the landlord Vasin, high interest rates prevent him from repaying the loan, leading to despair and a descent into crime and gambling. Eventually ostracized by the community, he faces a brutal fate at the hands of Vasin and the villagers. After years of hardship, he returns home post-liberation, highlighting themes of social inequality and the plight of the impoverished.
