Set in 1857, the story follows Captain Illiam Quillian Kewley and his crew of rum smugglers from the Isle of Man, who must charter their ship after losing most of their contraband to British Customs. Their unusual passengers are the Reverend Geoffrey Wilson, who is convinced that the Garden of Eden was located in Tasmania, and his companion, Dr. Thomas Potter, who harbors dark ideas about human races. This journey promises to intertwine adventure with complex themes of belief and morality.
