The story follows a boy from Cornwall who becomes a malevolent Wizard obsessed with ruling the world. His ambition leads to a condition called The Magicians Twitch, thwarting his plans. Seeking a cure, he shrinks himself to invade the lands of the Little People, who escape with their treasured Book of Lore. For a millennium, they live in peace until the Wizard discovers their location, initiating a series of conflicts as he devises new schemes to seize the Book.
