The book explores the evolution of male homosexuality and the vibrant gay communities in urban Brazil, based on over 15 years of field research. It provides an ethnographic analysis of various sexual environments, including street cruising, male prostitution, and transgender performances. The study highlights the shifting sexual identities and cultures, alongside the impact of gay rights activism and AIDS service provision. Additionally, it features 15 maps to enhance the understanding of these diverse communities.
