Set in the late 18th century, this work explores the creation of an Ancient Egyptian Magical Order known as the Crata Repoa by two influential German esoteric masons. Its fantasy narrative significantly shaped various masonic and esoteric traditions in the 18th and 19th centuries, leaving a lasting impact on modern groups like the Order of the Golden Dawn and Wicca. However, as understanding of Egyptian history advanced, the Crata Repoa's literal interpretations fell out of favor and the work has since been largely overlooked.
