Worlding a Peripheral Literature

The book explores the intersection of Slovenian literature with the global literary landscape, challenging the notion that texts hold universal significance regardless of their origins. It examines how (semi)peripheral national movements, dependent on imperial powers, sought validation through the concept of the national poet during the nineteenth century. By analyzing the canonization of writers from these communities, it highlights how national literatures asserted their unique cultural identities and navigated the emerging world literary canon, influenced by prevailing aesthetic ideologies.
