Set against the backdrop of Cuba's 2018 revolution, the story follows Javier Hernandez, who leads a fight against tyranny after the assassination of his wife, Vanessa, during a peaceful protest. Her death ignites global outrage and U.S. support, enabling the rebels to overthrow the government in June 2019. However, the anticipated one-year U.S. military presence has turned into a prolonged occupation, leading to disillusionment among the Cuban people as they grapple with the reality of exchanging one form of oppression for another.
