Shandelee

Shandelee is a book about the people, events, and places along the Shandelee Road in Sullivan County, New York, some 95 miles from New York City. The area has been frequently called the "Borscht Belt." The Shandelee Road was first built in 1885. Shandelee was a popular summer resort for residents of New York City who wanted to vacation in the Catskills. Most of the illustrations in this book are from actual photographs or from old postcards. I believe Shandelee is a microcosm of the story of our country. I hope you will share my enthusiasm after reading this book.
