Two insiders, born and studied in Bonn, wrote a guide about this loveable city at the Rhine. With „Bonn in your pocket“ they walk off the beaten paths, offering a closer look at remarkable places and interesting events and provide you with tips for restaurants and pubs. What they recommend are their personal favourites. What they avoid are the same old stories you would find in any other tourist guide for the umpteenth time (– Yes, Beethoven was born here and you can visit Beethoven's birthplace...) In this guide you will also find some critical notes about Bonn since the authors don´t want to romanticise local history and politics. They'd rather like to present a „noteworthy“ city from their point of view. And without doubt the author's sympathy for their hometown will rub off on their readers.

Zwei Insider, geborene und studierte Bonner, haben über die liebenswerte Stadt am Rhein einen Reiseführer geschrieben. Allerdings stehen nicht so sehr die bekannten touristischen Highlights im Vordergrund der Darstellung, sondern Orte und Plätze, regelmäßige Veranstaltungen und der eine oder andere gastronomische Tipp, die sie guten Gewissens empfehlen können, ohne allseits Bekanntes zum 100. Mal zu erwähnen (ja, Beethoven ist hier geboren und es gibt hier ein Beethovenhaus!!!). Dabei schimmert unverhohlen Sympathie für ihre Heimatstadt durch, allerdings wird auch der eine oder andere kritische Hinweis zur Stadtgeschichte oder -politik nicht unterdrückt. Was die Autoren nicht wollen, ist „Heimatkunde“ romantisierend verklären. Vielmehr wollen sie aus ihrer Sicht der Dinge dem Leser eine – in welcher Hinsicht auch immer – „bemerkenswerte“ Stadt vorstellen.
