It is now widely acknowledged that Human Resources (HR) are crucial to organisational competiveness and performance. As such, the Human Resource Management (HRM) field has seen an increase in the number of models which could help organisation compete and perform better - Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) has been one of these models. However, most of these models have been developed in western countries and for western countries’ organisations’ problems. Thus, in time of globalisation, the transferability/applicability of these models in other part of the world, especially the developing country world is put into question.
