Focusing on education for citizenship in secondary schools, this book analyzes European research from Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Romania, emphasizing the importance of teacher-student relationships in fostering a democratic society. It highlights the growing awareness of dialogue and clear communication as essential for active citizenship. The findings, supported by questionnaires, aim to assist pedagogy researchers and education professionals in enhancing positive social interactions within school environments.

For the first time we open an imaginary dialogue of an intercultural nature between two Masters: Vico and Tagore. Their writings represent a challenge to the search for ties that create the substance of our humanity. In their implicit pedagogy there are the reasons to educate according to fundamental principles rooted in nature, culture and history. The humanistic and cosmic Weltanschauung introduces the pedagogical theory of the formation of man from the bio-psychological development of infancy to the dynamic concept of history and society in which the spiritual dimension of man prevails. The aim of this study is to show the affinity of the way of understanding the education of the child and youth in two different cultures. Vico and Tagore were spiritually united in the search for the meaning of educating to and experiencing the practices most suited to the needs for human growth. This volume is mainly dedicated to teachers of primary and secondary schools, to parents and social workers. It is meant to encourage the meeting of cultures through discovering the loveliest testimonies recognised as the heritage of humanity.

Diese erste systematische Arbeit über die Kindergartenpädagogik der Italienerin Giuseppina Pizzigoni (18701947) betritt 80 Jahre nach der Erstveröffentlichung ihres grundlegenden Werkes »Mein Kindergarten« pädagogisches Neuland. Pizzigoni benutzt nicht ein starres didaktisches Material wie ihre Kollegin und große Konkurrentin Maria Montessori, sondern legt Gewicht auf die permanente Erneuerung in einer im wahrsten Sinne »progressiven Schule«, in der man experimentiert und arbeitet, wie sie sowohl John Dewey als auch Jerome Bruner gefallen hätte. Diese neue Schule hat die bestmöglichen Lernbedingungen zu schaffen, um das Comenianische Prinzip, »allen alles auf alle Weise zu lehren« Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen. Das Kind wird als Person gesehen, die sich am Aufbau einer besseren Welt beteiligen will und deshalb verdient, dass man ihr mit Respekt begegnet und sie jene kreativen Möglichkeiten verwirklichen lässt, von der alle Erneuerung lebt. Diese Methode wurde geradezu als Alternative zur sog. Montessori-Methode angesehen.
